    Commencement Ambassadors

    Academic Procession 7:30 am - 11:30 am

    Academic Procession Ambassadors will organize and assist deans, faculty members and graduates in finding their line-up location, and manage the procession of attendees out of the marshaling area under the stadium onto the field. Procession Ambassadors should be able to give clear instructions, be organized, and able to stand and walk for a good portion of the day. This role is needed from 7:30 am until 11:30 am on Sunday, May 14, 2023.

    Honorary Degree Recipients 7:00 am - 12:30 pm

    Honorary Degree Recipient Ambassadors will assist the individuals receiving honorary doctoral degrees and their guests prior to and during the ceremony. Ambassadors will greet the honorees upon their arrival, assist with their academic regalia, provide for any special requests, and assist them once the ceremony has ended. These ambassadors should be comfortable speaking with people and able to stand for periods of time. This role is needed from 7:00 am until 12:30 pm on Sunday, May 14, 2023.

    Welcome Ambassadors 7:00 am - 11:00 am

    Welcome Ambassadors will answer questions and interact with graduates, their guests, and the Rutgers community as they arrive at the stadium, during the ceremony, and as they exit. Ambassadors are stationed throughout the stadium and the surrounding plazas to help everyone enjoy their time at Commencement. Welcome Ambassadors should be comfortable talking with people, willing to take initiative in directing crowds, and able to stand and walk for a good portion of the day. This role is needed from 7:00 am until 11:00 am on Sunday, May 14, 2023.

    Platform Party 7:00 am - 1:00 pm

    Platform Party Ambassadors will help the members of the Platform Party (members of the governing boards, administration, deans, special guests, etc.) throughout the day. Ambassadors will set the platform accordingly with chairs, binders and other important items. They then will assist as the platform party arrives for a pre-ceremony meal, dons their regalia and processes onto the main stage for the ceremony. Following the ceremony the Ambassadors will help collect and organize all regalia. This role is expected to be organized, efficient, and is needed from 7:00 am until 1:00 pm on Sunday, May 14, 2023.

    Registration Desk 6:15 am - 1:00 pm (Ambassadors), or 7:00 am - 12:30 pm (Marshals)

    Registration Desk Ambassadors will help to organize and register the Commencement Marshals and Ambassadors as they arrive at the stadium and check-out at the end of each shift. Registration Desk Ambassadors must be punctual, able to manage people and organized to help the check-in and check-out process run as smoothly as possible, and be able to stand for periods at a time. On Sunday, May 14, 2023 there are two options for this role:
  • - Ambassador Registration Desk: 6:15 am - 1:00 pm
  • - Marshal Registration Desk: 7:00 am - 12:30 pm
  • Special Needs 7:30 am - 12:30 pm

    Special Needs Ambassadors will assist our guests with accessibility issues. Ambassadors will greet guests as they arrive, answer their questions, and direct them to special needs seating. Ambassadors should be able to stand for periods of time, be comfortable assisting those with mobility issues and enjoy assisting others. This role is needed from 7:30 am to 12:30 pm on Sunday, May 14, 2023.

    Set-upFriday May 12 8:30 am - 1:00 pm

    Set-up Ambassadors will help to prepare the stadium for the ceremony. Ambassadors should be willing and able to climb stadium stairs, move boxes of supplies, carry tables and chairs, lift items up to 25 lbs., and work in any weather (except lightning). You can participate as a Set-up Ambassador prior to the ceremony and one of the other Ambassador roles on the day of the event.
